The Lord placed on our hearts to start a children's home for neglected, abused, and forgotten children in Oil Trough, Arkansas. Since opening the doors on April 17, 2009 Project New Start volunteers have worked tirelessly on completing all the necessary remodeling and renovation. Classrooms have been converted into bedrooms and living rooms as well as the restrooms have been converted into bathrooms. The cafeteria has also been remodeled with new floor coverings and repainting. New fencing was also set up, playground equipment was repainted and beautiful flowers and shrubbery was planted. New Life Children's Home has truly been blessed by the support of so many churches, businesses, organizations and individuals who have helped turn this vision into a reality. Now the building has become a home, fully furnished and is has children occupying it.
Almost a year later
The Lord has blessed the NLCH with wonderful house parents, but we are still in need for another set of house parents and part time relief parents. The New Life Children's home at the present time is physically able to take in twenty-four children. That's twenty-four lives that will be changed due to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
There are so many neglected and abandoned children that need a Christian home, along with a Christian environment to grow up in. Our children are the most impressionable and vulnerable members of our society. Today's children are the leaders of tomorrow and we need to instill in them the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If we fail to teach our children, proper moral values and the teachings of God, what type of life will they have? Here at New Life Children’s Home we honor those teachings and we are dedicated to making a difference in the lives of the childern.

The Children's Quarters This building was previously utilized for an elementary school by the Oil Trough School District. The Oil Trough School Dsitrict and the Newark School District were consolidated into the Cedar Ridge School District a few years ago and this building sat vacant. There was quite a lot of necessary renovation that needed to be done. Thanks to many volenteeres, What was once a vacant, empty school building has now become a warm loving HOME for abused and neglected children. A home that is now teaching these wonderful childern the love and hope that God has for each and every one of them.
Cafeteria This is the cafeteria where meals are prepared as well as where some extra curricular activities are taken place. The kitchen and dining area has been completely renovated. With a facility like this, meals are more easily prepared than in a non-commercial kitchen. What a wonderful sight it is to see smiling, little faces now getting all the nutritious food they need to grow into healthy, prospering adults. Having a commercial kitchen that is capable of serving so many children is truly the Lord's blessing.
Dining Area
The dining area which also has a stage which is utilized for entertainment activities as well as Christmas parties, Birthday parties, skits, and a place for volunteers to gather with the children for story time and many other activities. although it gets quite noisy at times in the dining room it is well worth it to hear the laughter of all of these little boys and girls.
Kitchen Area What an effort it was to prepare the kitchen to be readied for cooking once again. Now all the stainless steel is shining, the walls have been clean and repainted. Plus all the equipment is in perfect working order. How wonderful it is to be able to prepare meals for so many children in a large, commercial kitchen. Hallelujah!
Boy's Bedroom This is a picture of one of the bedrooms where the children are staying. We would like to thank the many people who helped us, through their generous donations.
Living Room The living rooms in each unit of the New Life Children's Home offer a comfortable, cozy room to relax in, play games, watch television.
Landscaping New flowers and shrubbery adorn the grounds of the New Life Children's Home. In addition, an automated sprinkler system has been installed to keep everything green, fresh and anew!
A Place To Play What a wonderful blessing it is to have a playground for the young children to enjoy. There are slides, monkey bars, teeter totters, a jungle gym, a small basketball court, and plenty of other equipment for them to enjoy. All the playground equipment has been repainted and spruced up. The children can now enjoy many hours in the sun playing on the playground.
