Recovery for Pregnant Women
To have a child born with health problems due to a mother's addiction is one of the greatest tragedies that can occur. At Project New Start we offer that soon-to-be mother a home full of God's love and the opportunity to have their baby clean and sober. Project New Start offers a home, the Deborah House, for pregnant women who are wanting to break the chains of their previous addictive lifestyle and have their child born healthy and well. We have seen pregnant women enter our program and through the Word of God and dedicating their lives to Jesus Christ, have that child and become a loving mother and a responsible parent. What a joy it is to see a woman realize that the health and welfare of her unborn child is the most important thing in her life and then see that woman accept Jesus as her Savior and live accordingly to His teachings! Below is a testimony of one such woman, Mallory, who has truly become a new creation in Christ and a loving mother. Praise God!
Mallary Cullum & Caden
PNS Graduate - 2008
My name is Mallary and I'm 20 years old. I am a new mom for the very first time, to a beautiful little boy, Caden. I am not only a new mom, but I have a full-time job and will be starting college very shortly. These things that once felt impossible to do I know now they are not. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I'm so happy and full of life now. I haven't felt that since I was a little girl. My life continues to just get better and better everyday because of allowing God into my life! I serve an awesome God.
Let me just say that just a short year ago I was a junkie who was living everyday for my next fix. I was a very sad, lost and hopeless girl who was doing everything to get my high and even learning to cook meth and also selling it. Everything revolved around me getting my high. I always felt alone and felt like no one knew me or my problems. I had many issues that were tearing my life apart. Then I became pregnant and thought my life was over. I was court ordered to a recovery program called Project New Start. It was there I learned about the loving-kindness, grace and mercy that God has for me. I gave my life to Jesus, someone who I never really knew or took the time to know. I learned so much about Jesus, and myself, while living in the Esther House and attending church. I felt alive again, regaining what Satan had stole from me. I found that every problem and struggle I had in life could be overcome if I would just take the time to read God's Word and give Him my life. I found He could help me with all my problems and He does! God knows our pains and hurts and wants to help us. And He is doing more than I ever could have imagined. He has restored my family and every part of my life and is continuing to work out all things for the good. I know what it's like to be a single mom and have all sorts of problems. But everything s working out, not because of me, but because of God. Now my life has purpose. God has given me my life back and I'm starting to live it. Life is great! He has the answer to all our problems. I thank God for all He has done in my life and I thank Project New Start for having a home where I could go, straighten out my life, have my baby and learn about all that God has in store for me and my baby!
