Recovery Homes
Men's & Women's Recovery Homes

The Esther House
When we first started praying about the opening drug and alcohol recovery homes, we made the inital decision to not open a women's facility. Yet after much prayer and fasting, we decided to open a drug and alcohol recovery home for women. On October 23, 2006, the Esther House became our fist women's recovery home and was dedicated to the Lord on October 31, 2006. Hallelujah! We have sinced moved the women's drug and alcohol recovery home from the building we built in 2006 to a larger, 2 story apartment building in order to be able to take in more women who have been struggling with their addictions. On the front of the Esther House are posted the Ten Commandments. At night the wonderful words of our God are lighted up so that all who drive by can see them. The Esther House has a live-in house mother who is a graduate of our program. Because of the previous path she walked in life, she is truly able to minister to our residents and sincerely help those who are battling drug and alcohol addictions. The Eshter House is able to house a total of 27 resdients and staff. Each day, the women residents start the day with a life skill class led by greatly appreciated women volunteers from this and the surrounding communities. After the morning life skills class, the women work on various community and Project New Start job assignments and projects. At nighttime, the women attend an evening life skill classes. Some of the women residents are involved with our bi-weekly nursing home ministry, bringing a kind smile and encouraging word to the lonely, local shut-ins at the home. Is is so gratifying to be able to help these women who want to make a change in their life through accepting Jesus Christ as their Saviour and dedicating theif lives to Him. It truly is a blessing to see these women rebuild their family ties with their husbands and children and become all that God has had in store for them. As Esther delivered the whole nation of Israel from destruction through her committment to God, the women in the Esther House learn that through accepting Jesus as their personal Savior and dedicating their lives to Him, they too can be delivered from the destruction that is caused by drug and alcohol addiction.
The Esther House also serves as an assisted living home for women graduates who have decided to stay on so that they may live in a loving, Christian home where they can continue their walk with our Lord and have constant fellowship with their sisters. The Esther House also serves as a homeless shelter for women.
The Esther House is also Project New Start's home for women who are with child and have no one to turn to, nowhere to go. This portion of the Esther House designated for pregant women is the Deborah House. The life they are carrying is precious and a gift from God and ABORTION IS NOT AN ALTERNATIVE! As it says in God's Word in Psalm 139:13-16, "Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb. I thank you, High God-you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marveslously made! I worship in adoration-what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you wathed me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you. The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day."

The Gideon House
The Gideon House was originally built in 2006 and dedicated to the Lord on October 31, 2006 as our first women's dru
g and alcohol recover home. Presently, the Gideon House is being utilized as our second men's drug and recovery home as our women residents have moved to a separate, 2 story apartment building in order for our program to accommadate more women who trying to break the chains of their addiction. All the exterior c
oncrete blocks and interior drywall were donated by caring businessmen and the majority of the construction work on the Gideon House was performed by the men in our program. As roofers were needed, the Lord sent men to our program who were roofers. As tile layers were needed, the Lord provided men with that skill. The Lord always provides! The Gideon House can house fourteen men and with utilizing the Gideon House for our second men's drug and alcohol recovery home, we can now accept more men then we could ever before. As Gideon defeated the eneimies of Israel through dependence on and following the Lord, our men are taught they can be delivered from and overcome any problem they are facing through accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior and following Him!
Joshua House

The Joshua House is the first men's transitional drug and alcohol recovery housing facility in Jackson County, AR. The Joshua House was bought and renovated by Project New Start to help the man who is battling their addictions. We had a God inspired vision that showed Newport and the surrounding communities and area, drug and alcohol free. The vision showed us that former addicts would be living, not under the scourge of drug and alcohol abuse, but rather living productive lives with responsible jobs. Not only is this home utilized for those men who are battling their substance abue issues, it is also utilized for men who are battling depression, feelings of hopelessness and all those who have lost their way in life. This home is alos designated as Project New Start's homeless shelter for men. This Home was dedicated to the Lord on October 31, 2004 and so many men who have lived there have shattered the chains of their bondages through dedicating their lives to our Lord and Savior. The Joshua House is capable of holding nine men and is currently fully occupied. The men begin each day with a devotion and llife skill class taught by greatly appreciated community volunteers. During the workweek, the men are assigned to various community or Project New Start work assignments such as helping the City of Newport clean up the limbs from the recent ice storm, etc. If a man does not have a high school diploma or equivalent, G.E.D, classes are held twice a week for them to help better their education. All the men in our program attend life skills classes to help them better their lives. The recovery program of Project New Start is typically six months long. The men in the Joshua House come from all walks of life, but they all have one thing in common, the desire to change their lives through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. As Joshua ended up leading the Israelites from the last vestiges of bondage into the promised land, the Joshua House heps lead men who were in the bondage of addiction and sin into a new life through our Savior, Jesus Christ. The Joshua House provides an Arkansas Drug Rehab and Arkansas Alcohol Recovery Program for men who are battling their addictions and need help. Our graduate rate is very successful with very few individuals
