Caleb House

CALEB HOUSE

“Blessings for Obedience”

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9

In 2006 an attorney in Newport purchased this house for Project New Start to be utilized as our second men’s drug and alcohol recovery home.  The Caleb House was opened in September of 2006 and was officially opened on October 31, 2006.  Today the Caleb House serves as our men’s transitional home.  The Caleb House is capable of housing eight graduates or near graduates who are employed in the local community.

There is a scripture that it is written on the outside wall of the the house that we pray for all our Caleb residents and that scripture is “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.” - Proverbs 3:6. When we trust in the Lord he really will direct our paths and change our lives. For those who really want to continue with their sobriety, the Caleb Home is a great place for those needing accountability and a safe environment. Transitional homes are a vital part of recovery for the men and women because they can now have a new start and new opportunities.

Caleb house residents have a drug free home and a choice to keep that drug free lifestyle, they no longer have to go back to places where drugs and alcohol were prevalent and rampant in their lives. The residents are assisted with help in finding jobs, housing, or making appointments that is necessary to become a productive member of the community.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

WITH OUR TRANSITIONAL HOUSING, THERE IS HOPE FOR A BETTER TOMORROW!

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away ; behold , all things are become new.   2 Corinthians 5:17
